WHAT'S UP EVERYBODY!?!

Ok, I know it's been a minute, but so much has been happening, I'm just now catching up!  So here we go, keeping it short as usual I'll focus on our first benefit show, our first Advisory Board meeting, and a new fundraising plea

Atlanta's Aquemini recording artist Killer Mike (you definitely heard his "The Whole World" with Outkast) headlined our first benefit show that also included Watusi Tribe, Herbin' Life, Club Ghetto, and Renaissance Establishment.  About two hundred people came out for a dope night of live Hip Hop that gave us a chance to introduce the Hip Hop Youth Arts Center to a whole new set of people.  The 20th Century Theater's staff said that we ran the place as well as anyone has, and our Event Planning Committees came through to help the night go smoothly.  Thanks to everyone who helped make the night a success!

Our Advisory Board met for the first time two weeks ago and was attended by people bringin credibility of all kinds to the table.  From CEOs and Community Leaders, young and old, black and white, we've compiled an excellent group of individuals that will help guide the Hip Hop Youth Arts Center from these early stages.  You can view the list of our Advisory Board members and their responsibilities on our website in the "Multimedia" section.  We are extremely thankful to everyone who has made the one year committment!

Finally, we need money!  Who doesn't, right?!  We've submitted applications for a number of grants, and the big one to the Greater Cincinnati Foundation will go in next week.  But if we want to open this place up this summer, we need to have resources to take us through September at a minimum.  Rent each month is $1500, can you hook up July?!  Please read the attached "letter to the editor" that I recently put together.  It basically says that times are tough right now downtown - if you're not from Cincinnati, we've seen murders way too consistently lately - and we need to take risk to make change happen.  Please consider and/or re-consider sending a significant contribution to the Hip Hop Youth Arts Center.  Go to our website (www.natiyouthcenter.org) and do it now, or send us a check to the address below.  If you said you threw a check in the mail, please do it for real today!

Alright, I'm outta here.  Hope everybody is doing well.  It's been beautiful lately in Cincinnati, I wish you all the same weather.  Thanks for your continued support!

Peace,
