Abdullah) In 2005, Brandon "Abdullah"
Powell started off volunteering as a recording engineer
for Elementz. His involvement led him to a
management position over the recording studio.
Abdullah learned much of his musical production knowledge
from his father, founder of the non-profit organization
for musicians called S.T.A.R.S. He most recently
graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BA
in Electronic Media.

April)
April Carr,
30, is working at Elementz to save the art of djing,
or “turntablism.” She graduated from Dayton Dunbar High
School and then from Central State in 1997 with a degree
in Psychology. April currently works for Children’s
Hospital as a Clinic Research Coordinator. She has been
djing for 8 years.

Ben
- Graffiti Art Instructor
Benjamin has been painting graffiti-styled art off and
on for about 9 years. For the past 7 years, he
has been painting in what he believes to be a more positive
light. Benjamin has been teaching the graffiti
class since January of 2007. He is currently writing
"Dayst," short for "Daystar." he
hopes to help guide the youth in the right direction
with their passion for the hip hop visual arts.

Islord)
Islord Allah
has been a resident of Over-the-Rhine for most of his
life, and now, at 32, he owns two small businesses in
the community – a barber shop and a clothing store.
He is a visionary who feels strongly that Hip Hop culture
should be infused into education because it has taught
him so much. He sees the Hip Hop Youth Arts Center
as being of utmost importance. Islord is also
a child development psychology major at the University
of Cincinnati, and is goal-oriented and multi-faceted.
A person never limited in creativity, Islord is clearly
a true pioneer for community development in Over-the-Rhine.
